Time to Start Writing Letters to the USTR!

After only one day we blogged about the benefits of maintaining a backup option for carbon fiber manufacturing in China, we read about American tariff exemptions for China-made carbon fiber frames under US$600 according to Bicycle Retailer. Just last month, single speed road bicycles were beginning to receive exemptions as reported by Bicycle Retailer. For other products like e-bikes, it is not looking good. Given the current instability of manufacturing in Southeast Asia, perhaps it’s best to stick with Taiwan for the time being.
